Gates' House

When David Letterman asked Gates how big his new house is, Gates, said "pretty big.." When pressed, he admitted it was over 50,000 square feet, and the Late Show audience gasped. "That's bigger than this [the Ed Sullivan] theater," Letterman said. Gates happily described his house: it has a trampoline room, very high quality computer display monitors, and special sensors to track the occupants. Described in detail in a chapter of his book excerpted in the November 27th issue of Newsweek, the house is a control freak's dream: 100 microcomputers, smart lights, digital art and music that that follow occupants as they move, an L-shaped swimming pool with underwater music, and a 32-screen video wall.
